I am so proud! Beau passed his AKC Trick Dog test for the Novice level last night! I have been teaching him throw-away tricks since he was a pup as a way to stimulate his brain.
Sadly, I have no photos of videos of the event but here is a woefully poor substitute – a video of a practice session that I shot at home.
You’ll see him do the following tricks:
– Poke (touch my hand or the mark)
– Touch (give me a paw)
– Spin
– Whisper
– Speak
– Back
– Get in a box
– Sit in box
– Perch (paws up)
– And another poke for good measure.
I love his little tail nub shiver at the end!
Incidentally, I really need to get a @gopro and I apologize for the crappy videos!
Next up, we will tackle the first of three legs towards our CD title. We have been training for almost 4 months, so we are almost ready to try for Novice A. If we qualify, great. If we don’t, it will be a fun day out in a new environment with lots of lessons learned.
I am so proud of my boy!
As always, thanks for stopping by!
