Beau has been doing really really well in our weekly training class and, with the assistance of my trainer, has made strides in his reaction to other dogs when in the neighborhood. We had two house calls (Thursday and Friday) followed by class on Saturday. Beau did so well, we were able to go sit outside for dinner at a local bistro Friday evening with friends and their pug. Beau was a perfect gentlemen, even when a dog walked by and barked at him. It was amazing! Below are some assorted shots from various classes.
We take our test next Saturday and, if we pass, we will go into Advanced Obedience/Off-Leash. We train every day but in preparation, I wanted to take Beau to the most distracting place I could think to practice. Well, in DC that is going to be the National Mall.
It was cool and grey when we arrived but warmed up, too soon. Beau was great! Lots of people, strollers, dogs, soccer games, a Zumba convention, a homeless guy screaming at us, and the usual traffic. We worked on long sit stays and down stays, recalls and general calm. I think we may be ready for our test!!
