Hello, blog readers!
I hope you are happy and healthy and weathering the continued pandemic as best as possible. Thank heaven for dogs, cats, and other critters that take us out of our own heads and give us unconditional love. Having to care for another living being (plants included) helps us stay grounded and is a huge benefit to our physical and emotional health.
Around here, Beau definitely helps keep me happy and healthy. His silly antics and constant presence remind me how lucky I am to have him, even though there are mornings I would prefer to stay in bed instead of getting him out for a walk.
We are ramping up holiday preparations. I have Christmas classics playing from 7am to 10pm, some lights hung by the windows, and holiday cards printed and sent. Beau and I have had a slower than normal training schedule since Thanksgiving. We graduated advanced off-leash class and finished our beginner nosework classes, so we were down to our CD prep class until intermediate nosework began last week.
Intermediate nosework is a whole different ballgame! The handler mechanics are different. Beau is on a long line, instead of off-leash and there are hides in boxes, on automobiles, and along a building perimeter. It is such fun and Beau did great on his first two searches. Our instructor offers a Saturday drop-in class which we attended once and plan to attend at least next Saturday before the Christmas and New Year holidays.
We continue to walk with our friends and have been expanding our radius. Last week, we walked down to DuPont Circle which was quite the adventure – rush hour traffic, dogs everywhere, road construction and Beau handled it all beautifully!
With that, here are some recent photos of Beau’s adventures. As always, thanks for stopping by!!
